vs. Milan were smothered by Manchester United at Old Trafford in the second leg of their last 16 tie in the Champions League as they went down 4-0 in that match and 7-2 on aggregate. That was a massive humiliation for a side that had rejuvenated themselves after a horrendous start to the season. For Milan, now it is time to look forward and by looking forward it means looking forward to winning the Scudetto. At the moment the Rossoneri are second inSerie A with 55 points from 27 matches and are just four points behind leaders and cityrivals Inter. However, that gap could stretch to seven points should the Nerazzurri win their league fixture on Friday night. Leonardo's side have looked quite strong at home as they have won nine out of 13 league games at the San Siro. Leonardo, on the other hand, has a defensive crisis to deal with, as first-teamers Alessandro Nesta and Luca Antonini are ruled out. The versatile Daniele Bonera joins them on the sidelines, along with former Newcastle United loanee Oguchi Onyewu who is out for the season. Brazilian wing wizard Amantino Mancini is unavailable through injury, while talisman Alexandre Pato is also missing. Domenico Di Carlo’s side will have their minds set on an upset and probably view this as a great time to go to San Siro with Milan’s confidence dashed midweek. The Veronese team are having a very good season, sitting comfortably in 11th place on 35 points. Another two or three wins and they’ll be safe for sure – and a decent result this weekend could be the launch pad to even greater things. 26 goals scored and 27 goals conceded from 27 matches demonstrates how Di Carlo has masterminded their 10 League victories this season, and he will be hoping for another shut-out against the likes of Ronaldinho and Marco Borriello. The team will have to do it without the help of French defender Nicolas Frey, who serves a one-game ban. The squad is relatively healthy though, with just veteran stopper Fabio Moro and Torino loanee Elvis Abruscato ruled out through injury. TPF.com: Stake 7 on 1 (-1 AH) @ 1.70 at |

vs. In-form sides Chelsea and Birmingham City meet at St. Andrews for this Premier League fixture on Thursday. Chelsea are unbeaten in six Premier League matches and have scored 14 goals in their three fixtures without Didier Drogba on African Cup of Nations duty. While Birmingham are on a club record run of 12 matches unbeaten in the top flight. Birmingham have not beaten Chelsea in any of their last 16 meetings in all competition, drawing just five. However they did become the first team to stop the Londoners scoring in 34 matches when they drew 0-0 at St Andrew's on Boxing Day. Joe Cole returns to the Chelsea side as Ricardo Carvalho replaces Alex in defence while Ashley Cole is back. Juliano Belletti is out for a month with a knee injury while Michael Essien is sidelined for six weeks with a similar complaint. Strikers Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou return tomorrow from African Nations Cup duty with the Ivory Coast but are not included in the squad. John Mikel Obi remains in Angola with Nigeria. But Birmingham's in-form striker Cameron Jerome will return after injury at Stamford Bridge. However, veteran striker Kevin Phillips is still sidelined with a groin problem which has troubled him in recent weeks and left-back David Murphy will miss out again.
